Small Business Litigation
How a small business owner handles litigation can make a difference in whether the business can continue or must close up shop forever. Our goal is to resolve small business litigation efficiently and as cost-effective as possible.
At AMS Law Group, our attorneys work with small businesses to identify potential areas of concern. Our goal is to prevent future lawsuits. But, we also recognize that there is no perfect system within the law. So, we stand ready to assist small business owners with litigation issues when they arise.
If you receive notice that a lawsuit has been filed against your business, you need to contact us immediately. You generally have only 30 days to respond to the allegations in the lawsuit. If you miss the deadline, the plaintiff may ask the court to enter a default judgment against you.
We will go over the legal document you received and discuss with you the nature of the claims against you and your potential liability or chances of success on the merits. Together we will decide how to proceed.
Meanwhile, you should not speak to anyone about the case, particularly the person who filed the lawsuit against you. If you are sued by an employee who still works for you, and you must see and talk to the plaintiff every day, do not get trapped into talking about the case.
